What is a Beverage Trailer?

Wikipedia’s American Trucking Industry glossary states it’s a trailer used primarily to haul beverages. Erin Theobald of Craftsmen Utility Trailer summarizes their beverage trailer as, “A custom built trailer with added specifications for heavy hauling ~ featuring rear column lift gates for unloading pre-picked pallets of product.”
Craftsmen worked with a variety of different types of beverage distribution companies to design the ideal trailer.

How Does a Utility Beverage Trailer Differ from Side Loaders or Side Bay Trailers?

A traditional beverage trailer design has multiple side doors used for loading and unloading. There are a variety of reasons why Craftsmen chose to shake up this design.
The side loader design previously popular amongst beverage delivery drivers is a time-consuming form of delivery. It requires the driver to open multiple side doors and pull individual products for a single delivery, loading and unloading on a dolly each time. Not only is this time consuming, but this method is significantly more difficult and dangerous for your drivers.
Alternatively, a Craftsmen Utility Beverage trailer is designed as an end loader. So, a driver is able to access pre-picked product via the back of the trailer. Its powered platform (lift gate) makes it easy and safe to raise and lower pallets or carts. This also allows for drivers to make their deliveries faster and more efficiently.
“Our unique specifications has been tested in the marketplace for over 20 years!,” Theobald continues, “We are the only dealer in the country that keeps inventory on these specialty trailers.”

Ways Craftsmen Helped to Develop Beverage Trailers

“We were the first company to introduce the end loader concept to Anheuser-Busch Corp. back in the late 90’s,” says Theobald.
Safety and efficiency are the words most frequently associated with the Craftsmen Utility Beverage Trailer. Custom specifications such as a 8” crossmember spacing across the full length of the trailer to help prevent floor damage from heavy forklifts.
Scott Dixon of Dixon Distributing, an Anheuser-Busch wholesaler, gladly reports that the end loading design of their Craftsmen utility beverage trailers, “…is easier physically on our drivers and shortens delivery time…”
The practical design of the Craftsmen Utility Beverage Trailer contributes to saving both money and time as well as being a safer and more reliable way to delivery beverages.
